Do you…
Feel like you’ve tried everything and still don’t know how to help yourself when anxiety hits?
Find yourself overwhelmed in the moments when you need support?
Feel like you should just know how to calm yourself in moments of stress?

I get it!
For years I thought there was something wrong with me. Everyone seemed to be suggesting the same solutions, tools and modalities. From therapists to nutritionists, psychiatrists to acupuncturists, coaches to chiropractors: everyone had the same recommendations on how to feel better. And yet, even though I tried them all…none of the solutions gave me the benefits they were supposed to. Or even provided enough benefit to outweigh the effort required.
Instead, all I felt was overwhelmed and burnt out. It seemed there was an endless amount of new tools to learn, solutions to accomplish, and things to try (and buy!) with little to no effect. With every disappointment, I felt more ashamed and frustrated.
I felt deeply unseen and unsupported by those who told me to just “try harder”. I felt as if the failure was my own fault, and others were more than ready to second this idea.
It wasn’t until I learned how to turn down the outside noise and decipher what my unique self needed that I could finally understand how to help myself in moments of anxiety, overwhelm and daily stress. It all started with clearing out the “shoulds” along with the shame and blame. And getting really honest about what worked and what didn’t.
Reclaiming my inner knowing about my honest responses, regardless of anyone else’s agenda. Considering the source of the recommendation and checking that against my own lived experience as a queer person with a complex background.
Now I know the fastest shortcuts back to my own personal place of equilibrium and I’ve helped many others learn them too.
Here’s the thing
Especially for those of us with queer identities, nuanced lived experiences or marginalized backgrounds, the majority of these solutions weren’t actually created for us.
In fact, at their roots, most of the common recommendations come right out of the very systems that harmed us in the first place. They are not designed to take complexity into account and cannot encompass nuance of experience. For some of us, certain solutions may not even be safe to practice.
Instead, I learned how to create my own freedom and peace that was specific to me. When I allowed myself to decide what to accept and what to reject based on my own lived experience, my own knowing, and my own unique way of being that’s when the magic happened.
And you can absolutely learn to do the same.
So, if you’re feeling like you’ve spent a lot of time, money and effort learning skills, tips and tricks on how to help yourself (and you have yet to see the big payoff) then this is the right place for you.

You’re not lazy. You’re not incompetent. You’re not unmotivated. And you’re not crazy for thinking you should be getting more out of your practices that are supposed to help you stay centered!
Once you shift from doing it their way and implement a streamlined system to make sure you’re doing it your way, you’ll finally have your own effective go-to solutions for supporting yourself.

(they/she)
I’ve had the honor of working with groups and individuals for over a decade. I bring my certified coaching skills and creative background to those who are often left out of modalities rigidly designed for only one type of person. As a Sapphic-queer person, I’ve been on the receiving end of a lot of advice that just doesn’t work since it was never created for a queer context. I’ve made it my mission to help others like myself experience empowerment by reconnecting with their own inner knowing about what’s right for them. I center a queer lens approach to foster liberation from internalized oppression and systemic harm. My practice is Queer-Owned, Queer-Safe & Queer-Affirming!

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”
Audre Lorde, A Burst of Light, 1988
“…it’s important to remember that there is no one-size-fits-all approach for stress relief. If [a practice] feels like “work,” it can become a restrictive, rather than expansive, practice.”
Charlotte Lieberman, ‘How Self-Care Became So Much Work’, Harvard Business Review 2018
“Both the Black Panthers and Lorde saw self-care as a political act, one meant to protect the mental and physical well-being of underrepresented communities, namely women, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ folks that the system purposefully neglected…which is why it’s all the more disheartening that their version of self-care has been distorted by businesses in pursuit of the almighty dollar. So let’s get radical again.”
Phoebe Robinson, ‘Make Self-Care Radical Again’, 2021
“There are infinite opportunities for personal growth, self-care, and genuine stress relief that don’t require money or clenched fists, but instead enable us to take a genuine break from goal-oriented and metric-driven thinking.”
Charlotte Lieberman, ‘How Self-Care Became So Much Work’, Harvard Business Review 2018

Ever felt like ‘journal style’ writing isn’t right for you? Or maybe at times it’s fine but other times just isn’t doable? You’re not alone!
From my own experience and from working with hundreds of clients, this is a very common experience. So what do you do if you don’t like journaling? (Hint: the answer is NOT just do it anyway!) I’ve put together this packet of ten creative ways you can use prompts without having to do traditional journal style answers.
You deserve access to your own inner wisdom and a connection to yourself. And there’s no one way to get there!
In this packet you will be guided to:
- Let go of doubt about how you access your own inner wisdom through prompts
- Get more out of the time you spend doing prompts
- Learn to follow your own style and what works best for you personally
- Come back to the whole point of doing a prompt in the first place

Don’t go back to just “trying harder” hoping something is bound to come of it. Putting in more effort and wondering why it just doesn’t pay off.
Today, it may look like I just “magically” know what to do for myself. But beneath the surface you’ll find that I too struggled for many years. Getting overwhelmed would put me in severe crisis mode and I’d be unable to help myself or tell others what I needed. And the impact would take me out for days (even weeks or months)…
Then I learned the skills I’ll share with you in this program. And went from breakdowns that took me out to being able to come back to myself in minutes.
It’s not because I’m special. It’s because I finally discovered how to cut through all the noise, connect with my own knowing, and streamline my approach. And now, I want to help you do the same.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be Sapphic queer to do this program?
A: No, any and all queer orientations are welcome to do this program!
Do I have to be queer at all to do this program?
A: No, anyone can do this program! However, I coach through a queer lens, meaning: I do not center the cis-hetero experience as default. I coach from the belief that there is no “standard” (i.e. cisgender or heterosexual) orientation type and therefore, no assumptions will be made about you. Dominant culture teaches us to assume (cis/hetero) until otherwise specified; a queer lens starts from a place of non-assumption and asks individuals to communicate what’s true for their unique experience. As a non-queer person, you will be asked to be just as clear and communicative about your specific identities and preferences as dominant culture requires of queer people. This can be an excellent way to push your own experience of what it’s like to function outside assumed normative narratives. If you choose to rise to this challenge, I’m here to partner with you!
I want to meet you first, can I schedule a discovery session?
Yes! I offer complimentary 20-minute discovery sessions via Zoom to meet and see if we’re a good fit to work together. Reach out to our admin team at contact@deeprefuge.com to schedule your free discovery session.
I’m brand new to all this and don’t have any tools or practices. Can I still do this program?
A: Yes, absolutely! I have loads of recommendations and I’m happy to suggest things that I think will work for you specifically. No big generalized lists here!
I already have plenty of self-care tools. How can this program help me?
A: This program isn’t about giving you more tools, it’s about helping you figure out which ones work best for you and your specific life. We’ll make sure you love what you’re doing AND that it gets you the results you’re looking for. If your toolbox feels overwhelming or inconsistent, we’ll sort through it together. You’ll learn how to identify what’s truly supportive (and what’s just noise), so you can stop wasting energy and start using your tools with clarity, confidence, and ease. It’s not about doing more, it’s about doing what actually works for you.
I’ve already tried a lot of modalities to help me feel better, what makes this different?
A: This isn’t another modality to learn or another list of one-size-fits-all self-care recommendations. Instead of stacking more strategies on top of your already full life, we pause. We clear the clutter. We build your personal plan. What makes this different is that it’s not about trying harder; it’s about getting specific. You’ll learn how to let go of what’s not effective and root into what actually works for you. That means honoring your body’s real responses, your context, your truth. This is a reclamation; not another prescription. If you’ve tried everything yet haven’t gotten much out of it, that’s a sign that the path forward needs to be radically your own. And that’s exactly what this program is here to help you build.
Will I have to learn more self-care practices?
A: No, not unless you want to! This isn’t about adding more, it’s about getting clear on what already works for you. We focus on refining, not piling on. You’ll learn how to make the most of the tools you already have, so your self-care feels effective, doable, and aligned with your real life.
I still have questions, can I contact you?
Yes! Reach out to contact@deeprefuge.com with your questions and our admin team will get back to you!
